This 12-week capstone project was led by the guiding question: can the meaning of written content change depending on the time it took to materialize? Formed from discarded digital notes, this installation translates flippantly written material into carefully rendered typographic artwork.

All the written material for this installation was sourced from the notes apps of friends and strangers. The otherwise arbitrary text is displayed using traditional printing methods–sign painting, linocut and typewriter–brought to life through its intrinsically human presentation.

This project grew from a series of interviews conducted with five creatives committed in some way to preserving historic type practices.

These conversations framed the guiding question for the project: can the meaning of written content change depending on the time it took to materialize? In-depth summaries and reflections from these interviews were compiled into a zine presented alongside the installation.
